In keeping with the non-profit making motives of the Seatrade Awards scheme, Seatrade will make a donation from the proceeds to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and The Mission to Seafarers.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a registered charity that saves lives at sea. Its volunteer crews provide the 24-hour, on call, service necessary to cover search and rescue requirements to 50 miles out from the coast of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. The RNLI depends on voluntary contributions and legacies for its income.

The Mission to Seafarers cares for the welfare of seafarers of all nationalities and faiths in over 300 ports worldwide. Its chaplains and staff visit seafarers on their ships to offer a welcome, and practical and spiritual support. This includes giving a lifeline to abandoned crews, helping in times of emergency and listening when seafarers want to share their problems.
In over 100 ports it runs centres where crews can relax away from their ships, telephone or email home, and get help and advice. Founded in 1856, it is a voluntary society of the Anglican Church.
