The Seatrade Awards first launched in 1989 and has now developed into one of the most respected and recognised global maritime award schemes, with the logo becoming an internationally recognised symbol of excellence.
The scheme rewards those who have demonstrated innovative solutions for safe, efficient and environmentally friendly shipping and is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the International Maritime Organization.

The independent judging panel, chaired by Efthimios Mitropoulos, Secretary General, IMO, carry out the preliminary assessment of the entries* during the early part of 2011. The panel will then select the winners from a short-list just a few hours before the Seatrade Awards Ceremony Dinner.

* The Seatrade Personality, Seatrade Young Person in Shipping and Seatrade Global Performer Awards are given for outstanding contributions to the industry. Nominations are invited from the international business community and the winners are chosen by Seatrade.
