Nigel Lingard, Marketing Director of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, joined the company at its Ipswich headquarters in 1988. In addition to being responsible for product development, he also has overall responsibility for sales, marketing, and reservations. Since 1988, he has seen the company expand from one cruise ship, Black Prince, to five as Black Watch, Braemar, Boudicca and Balmoral all joined the fleet. Since the sale of Black Prince in 2009, the fleet now numbers four.
Nigel’s entry into the travel industry came in 1979 when he joined Swedish ferry operator, Tor Line, at its base in Felixstowe, and after brief spells with Dorebridge Travel and Salen Lindblad Cruising he joined Scandinavian Seaways in 1984. He moved to Fred. Olsen in 1988 at the time its headquarters were relocated to Ipswich in Suffolk.
Nigel Lingard is a Director and Past Chairman of the UK’s Passenger Shipping Association, a Board Member of the European Cruise Council, and also serves on ABTA’s Membership Committee. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM), and of the Institute of Travel and Tourism (FITT).
