Efthimios Mitropoulos, Secretary-General, International Maritime Organization, was named Seatrade Personality 2008 in recognition of his outstanding leadership of the Organisation over the last five years, and in particular his strong response to the need for a holistic and multilateral IMO reaction to worldwide concern about air emissions from ships. Mr Mitropoulos was elected Secretary General of the IMO in November 2003. SEATRADE YOUNG PERSON IN SHIPPING 2008
Sadan Kaptanoglu, Managing Director of H.I Kaptanoglu Ship Management Company and board member of Kaptanoglu Holding, was named Seatrade Young Person In Shipping 2008. Ms Kaptanoglu is a leading voice among the younger generation in the Turkish Chamber of Shipping and a major supporter of the Turkish Maritime Education Foundation, and combines her business life with studies for a PhD degree at De Montfort University.
